InnoVEX to Highlight Taiwan’s Efforts in Linking Startups and the Manufacturing Industry

 2016-04-28

Taiwan’s superior ICT manufacturing capabilities are demonstrated in the fact that some of the world’s most sought after innovations such as Fitbit, GoPro and Nest are produced by Taiwanese ICT manufacturers. With the support of the National Development Council (NDC), the Taipei City Government, the Hardware Club based in Paris, Fenox Venture Capital of Silicon Valley, the Institute for Information Industry (III), the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), and the Center of Industry Accelerator and Patent Strategy of National Chiao Tung University (IAPS), the Taipei Computer Association (TCA) has invited more than 170 domestic and foreign startups to join the special InnoVEX exhibit at this year’s COMPUTEX in Taiwan to link together technology startups with leading ICT manufacturers.

NDC has long focused on domestic innovation and entrepreneurship development. In COMPUTEX 2015 NDC focused on 3 core fields, Smart Mobility, Smart Home and Smart Living and selected 9 high-potential Taiwanese IoT startup teams to showcase in the “Meet The Future” themed exhibit, which received broad positive response. This year NDC further expands their effort in enforcing international industry linkage for Taiwanese players by establishing an international showcase with the theme “Startup in Formosa to Make A Difference” at InnoVEX. Event organizer Epoch Foundation Garage+ expresses the hope to bring global startups to Taiwan to learn about the strengths of the domestic industry, and stimulate more opportunities for cooperation.

The Hardware Club, which has connected more than 40 important EMSs and marketing channel partners, is planning to visit COMPUTEX InnoVEX this year with more than a dozen Club members to interact with the Taiwanese electronics supply chain. According to Hardware Club managing partner Jerry Wang, the annual CES is where startups announce new products and promotions; the IFA is focused on creating orders in peak consumption seasons; Taiwan has a trusted and recognized electronics industry supply chain, and is the manufacturer for many startup products, Yang looks forward to InnoVEX developing into the best platform on which international startups and Taiwanese manufacturers could meet.

To promote business matching between startups and the manufacturing industry chain, the Taiwan Rapid Innovation Prototyping League for Entrepreneurs (TRIPLE), led by the Ministry of Economics and supported by ITRI, III, the Metal Industries Research & Development Center (MIRDC), the Development Center for Biotechnology (DCB), the Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI), the Automotive Research & Testing Center (ARTC), the Food Industry Research & Development Center (FIRDC), and the Ship and Ocean Industries R&D Center (SOIC), will also participate in InnoVEX showcase 17 emerging technologies and offer services including 76 experimental mass production lines and product prototyping.
