InnoVEX Pitch & Match Competition to take Place at Pi Stage

InnoVEX, Asia’s leading startup exhibition will be held from May 29 to 31 in TWTC Hall 1. In the InnoVEX Pi Stage, five vital events: InnoVEX Pitch Semifinal, InnoVEX Matchmaking – Powered by TTA x AAN, InnoVEX Matchmaking – Powered by TTA x TIEC, Tourism Innovation & Tech Awards final pitch, and Global Demo Day. The five events will feature a total of 90 global startups; both local and abroad; who will showcase their innovations to the audience and join over 100 matchmaking sessions.


May 29: InnoVEX Pitch Semifinal with 31 Startup Teams on Stage


Hosted by the organizers, the InnoVEX Pitch has a total 143 startups from 19 countries and regions. The top 5 categories are: AI & Big Data, Hardware & IoT, Health & Biotech, AR/VR/XR, and Fintech/ Blockchain/ E-commerce. The number of participating startups the highest in InnoVEX 2019 and the semifinal will be divided into 2 sessions to accommodate the 31 semifinalists. Each pitching startup will have 6 minutes to pitch and 5 minutes for Q&A from the judges. In total, 10 startups will continue to the final stage for a chance to win the USD 420,000 prize pool; the highest in InnoVEX history. This year’s prizes are sponsored by Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) – under Ministry of Science & Technology (MOST); Startup Terrace – under Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), Qualcomm Incorporated, and Taiwania Capital. The Pitch Contest is also a great opportunity for startups to get publicity, exposure, and investment opportunities.


May 30 – Morning: InnoVEX Matchmaking – Powered by TTA x AAN


This event is hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and organized by the Asia-Pacific Accelerator Network (AAN). In addition to joining the InnoVEX Forum in the Center Stage for the fourth year; AAN will also have a pitch event for the third year in the Pi Stage to provide the participating startups with an opportunity to match with the speakers. The industries of the startups that will participate in the InnoVEX Matchmaking – Powered by TTA x AAN include AR / VR / XR, Cyber Security, Health & Biotech, AI, IoT, Industrial Solutions, and more. The startups will match with accelerators and investors from France, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, and Philippines.


Established in 2014, AAN originate from the Asia Pacific Start-up Accelerator (ASA) which was initiated in 2013. In 2018, AAN also cooperated with the National Chiao Tung University Industrial Accelerator and Patent Strategy (NCTU IAPS) which was started in 2013 to help provide more comprehensive accelerator services. NCTU IAPS is the first university owned accelerator in Taiwan and has successfully cultivated over 100 startups through coordinating co-working spaces, business matchmaking, international incubation, and providing other supporting services. NCTU IAPS focuses a lot of resources on startups and recently focus more on sportstech.


May 30 – Afternoon: InnoVEX Matchmaking – Powered by TTA x TIEC


The InnoVEX Matchmaking – Powered by TTA x TIEC is hosted by MOST and co-organized by Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) and Taiwan Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC). InnoVEX 2019 will have the third event organized by TTA x TIEC; which will be joined by VCs from Silicon Valley, Taiwan, and other international investors to promote international matchmaking, investments; as well as international exchanges of both talent and technology.


The InnoVEX Matchmaking – Powered by TTA x TIEC will start off with a pitch session featuring 9 international teams from Taiwan, France, Canada, and Netherlands. The industries of the pitching startups include AR / VR / XR, Health & Biotech, Greentech, IoT, Consumer Tech, and more.


The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) has always been highly supportive of InnoVEX. This year, MOST will increase the scale of their support by having a more active role in the InnoVEX Forum through participation from representatives of GLORIA (Global Research & Industry Alliance); holding the InnoVEX Matchmaking – Powered by TTA x TIEC, sponsoring the InnoVEX Taiwan Tech @Night, as well as providing the grand prize of the InnoVEX Pitch Contest worth USD 100,000.


Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA) is a startups hub under the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST). Since its creation in June 2018, TTA has attracted multiple ICT & innovation focused organizations from multiple countries such as French Tech Taiwan, Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA), as well as global accelerators such as SOSV MOX, Sparklabs Taipei, Industrial Accelerator & Patent Strategy (IAPS), BE Accelerator, and more. TTA aims to strengthen the partnerships between Taiwan’s innovation & global startup ecosystem.


As such, TTA regularly introduces the resources available to startups and coach startups to pitch the Silicon Valley way, instill the SV mindset, and teach relevant skills/ techniques to make sure the startups can join in international events. In addition, TTA especially created the Pitch Night as a way to provide on-site training opportunities, so that the startups can expand overseas, as well as gain investments and exposures from international VCs and corporations.


May 31 – Morning: 25 Startups to demo at the Global Demo Day


In a 2 hour period, a total of 25 startups from France, Poland, Canada, and Philippines will join the Global Demo Day; representing industries of AI, IoT, AR / VR / XR, Consumer Tech, Cyber Security, Enterprise Software, Industrial Solutions, Sharing Economy, and more. Award winning startups such as Adok, Antipara Exploration, Hoomano, ImmerVision, Intrinsyc technologies, SoftwareHut, and more will showcase their innovative products and solutions to the audience. With such excellent startups in the lineup, investors and corporations will be treated to a series of demonstrations featuring innovative startups from around the world. Business France will host the French pavilion for the fourth time in 2019 and the second time for Philippines, Poland, and Canada.


May 31 Afternoon: Tourism Innovation & Tech Awards Final Pitch and Award Ceremony


Held by the Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation & Communications; the first ever Tourism Innovation & Tech Awards aims to combine the strengths of Taiwan's ICT industry and tourism. Having passed 2 selection stages, out of the 140 participants, 20 finalists will pitch on stage on the final day of InnoVEX 2019. On May 31, the finalists will pitch on stage to fight for the three prizes worth NTD 1 million, NTD 500 thousand, and NTD 200 thousand.
