The innovation hub of Asia, InnoVEX 2023 was held from May 30 to June 2 in Taipei; attracting over 20,000 visitors both locally and internationally. Among the main events was the InnoVEX Forum that invited influential speakers from industry leading companies and rising startup teams.
One of the speakers of the Asia Smart Mobility Ecosystem Forum is Mr. Yoshikatsu Watanabe, Vice President, Infotainment & Sound Business of ALPS ALPINE. ALPS ALPINE is a Japanese multinational corporation focusing on 3 main business segments: Components, Sensors and Communication, and Modules and Systems. Their customers span across many different sectors, including automotive, consumer electronics, mobile devices and game markets.
In his speech, Mr. Watanabe pointed out that the environment surrounding businesses have experienced significant changes including the need for SDGs, diversification of customers’ life & work styles, etc. The automotive industry specifically has seen new activities beyond its conventional area of expertise such as carbon neutrality which means they will need to resolve this gap with the latest technologies.
For modern vehicles, the cockpit is no longer just the driving space. Given the right integration of components, modules, and technologies; the cabin space might become a new living space for the users. This trend means the existing human-machine interface will need to evolve into a unique system by utilizing sensors and actuators to realize a rich experience in the future mobility cabin space. Many of the new components needed to achieve this are not conventionally available to one industry only and a robust collaboration network will be necessary.
