Y-FLOW
YPlasma develops next-generation cooling technology based on Dielectric Barrier Discharge (DBD) plasma actuators that generate ionic wind — airflow created entirely by electric fields, with no moving parts.
The thermal bottleneck is the single biggest constraint on modern electronics. AI accelerators, edge devices, and data center GPUs are now power-limited by their cooling systems, not by silicon. Traditional fans are loud, unreliable, dust-clogged, and too bulky for the form factors where compute is moving — drones, satellites, wearables, autonomous vehicles, and dense edge nodes. Liquid cooling is expensive, leak-prone, and impractical at the device level.
Our solid-state plasma actuators replace the fan entirely. By ionizing air molecules between two electrodes separated by a dielectric, we accelerate airflow directly across hot surfaces. The result is a cooling device that is:
Fully silent (no rotating parts, no vibration)
Ultra-thin (sub-millimeter profiles possible)
Solid-state and maintenance-free (no bearings, no dust degradation)
Electronically controllable in real time (instant response, zero spin-up)
Scalable from chip-level patches to rack-level airflow
We have validated prototypes achieving competitive heat transfer coefficients vs. micro-fans at equivalent power, with a clear roadmap to surpass them through electrode geometry and high-voltage driver optimization. Our IP covers actuator architecture, driver electronics, and integration patterns for embedded thermal management.
Initial target markets: Edge AI modules (drones, robotics, defense), high-density consumer electronics (laptops, AR/VR), and spot-cooling inside data center servers. The global thermal management market exceeds $20B and is growing double-digits, driven by AI compute density.
YPlasma is building the cooling layer that AI hardware will run on — silent, solid-state, and software-defined.
