Analyzing Trends and Business Opportunities in AI, Semiconductors, Healthcare, and Consumer Products

International research firms CB Insights and KPMG Enterprise have simultaneously released reports pointing out that after enduring the winter of 2022 and 2023, 2024 is a challenging year for the global venture capital (VC) market. However, signs of capital returning indicate that the venture capital sector will begin its recovery in 2025. The focus of this capital restructuring will be on exploring potential investment opportunities in emerging technologies, particularly looking at "the next" star technologies for the future.

In response to global trends in the venture capital sector, this year’s InnoVEX 10th Anniversary Forum invites industry leaders and venture capital experts from Japan, Singapore, Israel, Canada, the U.S., and Taiwan. The event will be held on May 23 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the InnoVEX Center Stage. The theme of the forum is "Exploring the Future of Technology Through the Lens of "What's Next?" from Ventures' Perspective." Speakers will share their firsthand experiences and strategic insights in fields such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), healthcare, and consumer products. Attendees will gain diverse perspectives to delve into industry trends and discover future directions!

According to CB Insights' statistics, investment in AI reached $66.6 billion (approximately NT$2.1 trillion) in the first quarter of 2025, marking an increase of about 51% compared to the previous quarter and accounting for approximately 55.1% of the total deal size. This indicates that the AI era is here, with intelligent systems paving the way for new business models. In the InnoVEX 10th Anniversary Forum, two AI-related talks will be featured: the first by Gordon Harling, CEO of CMC Microsystems, who has over 30 years of experience collaborating with industrial and academic researchers in microelectronics, microsystems, and nanotechnology in Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta. His talk is titled "The Canadian Approach to AI Research and Deployment." The second is by Huiting Koh, who has over 10 years of experience in consumer-centric enterprises and 8 years in brand management, and is a partner at Blueprint Ventures in Southeast Asia. Her talk is titled "AI and Next-Gen Consumer Businesses in Southeast Asia."

From the perspective of venture capital, key technological trends often stem from industries with innovative potential, scalable business models, and synergies with emerging technologies. As an important platform for exchange, the InnoVEX 10th Anniversary Forum will also feature Dov Moran, the "father of high-tech entrepreneurship" in Israel, an inventor, investor, and entrepreneur famous for creating the USB flash drive. His company, Grove Ventures, has attracted investments from several Taiwanese tech firms. Moran, who is also a high-tech leader in Israel, will share his insights in a talk titled "Deep Tech, Resilience, and... Israel." Additionally, Chris Cottorone, the President of TriOrient Investments, a U.S. national who has worked in Taiwan for over 30 years, and currently serves as the Co-Chair of the AmCham Taiwan's Private Equity Committee and a co-founder of the new Italian Chamber of Commerce in Taiwan, will deliver a speech on "Empowering SMEs in Three Societies via Taiwan, Technology, and Investment."

The forum also features Shuichiro Takahashi, a leading figure in Japan's tech industry. He earned his PhD in life sciences from the University of Tokyo and is known as a pioneer in plant virology. Takahashi founded Leave a Nest Group in 2002 to promote industry-academia collaboration and open innovation. He has been the Representative Director and COO since 2010. He is also involved in investment in seed-stage deep-tech startups as a Representative Director of Leave a Nest Capital. His talk is titled "Dawn of Knowledge Manufacturing." Another speaker, Ray Tai, the Vice President of Might Electronics and the Founder and Executive Director of Mighty Net, now a senior community advisor at MakerPRO, will speak on "The Last Mile of Hardware Innovation," drawing from his experience in the ODM/EMS industry and his work in the Taiwanese startup ecosystem.

Since 2016, the global ICT industry's growing demand for innovative breakthroughs has led to the establishment of the InnoVEX Startup Pavilion, which showcases technology startups and provides a diverse and engaging exhibition format, accelerating innovation within the ICT sector. Over the past 10 years, the integration of software and hardware technologies has changed the way people live, and with the rise of AI, this year's InnoVEX 10th Anniversary Forum will explore the changes that the next decade will bring. The forum will feature a range of experienced speakers from various industries, including AI, biotechnology, semiconductors, and consumer businesses, providing invaluable insights into the potential direction of technological development in the next 10 years. It is a must-attend forum for anyone in the fields of technology and innovation.
